Our house burned down yesterday, all of our animals perished in the fire except two of our dogs and our cats. We will not be re-building Cuddly Critters Exotics. I’m sorry.

First let me apologize for not keeping up. My computer crashed and it took forever to get it fixed. If you sent me an e-mail and didn’t get a reply it’s because my computer was down and those who did get replies got 15 or 20 of the same reply. I swear I hit reply once…
I have 4 hedgehog babies right now. 2 will probably go to Florida so I will have 2. I have no clue what the sexes are on the two new babies but the older baby is a chocolate female who is about 4 months old now I think. I will double check that as soon as my key comes through for my computer program.
I still have a large number of standard male chinchilla babies available various ages, a white violet male, a violet male, two new white eb males who are almost 2 months old now, 2 violet females who are almost 2 months old now, and possibly a pink/white female if I decide to sell her. I have another pink/white as of yet un-sexed because I can’t get mom to let me sex him/her. I had a new litter of two on Thursday, one brown velvet and one standard as yet un-sexed.
Joey has two Holland Lop/Mini Lop crossed sable bunny babies available as well. The bunnies being Joey’s aren’t on the website as I haven’t been able to get him a page added to ours. Lots of colors in this line from blue to sable to black.
Tenrec wise I am doing my first breedings this week so check back soon for babies! I will get the website updated this week and if you’re waiting on a pedigree for a chinchilla it will get sent this week as well! Thanks for being so patient with me as I weathered the computer down time of the century!!

For the week of March 2nd -
Two new chinchilla babies this week! Two Eb White boys!
No news on the hedgies, still just hanging in there, babies are due the 2nd week in March. I think I said the first originally but I was mistaken, it’s the 2nd week. Hoping for LOTS of babies!!
Tenrecs continue to torpor <sigh>
In other news, I still have a LARGE number of male Chinchillas available so as I mentioned I dropped the prices so they can find good homes. Joe will be in the Denver area on the 28th and will bring any babies so if you’ve been thinking of adding a chinchilla to your family now’s the time!
For the week of February 17th -
Nothing to report this week. One of the tenrecs is coming out of torpor and the other 3 are still very much in. I can’t wait for them to come out so we can pair them up and see what happens.
No new Chinchilla babies this week thank goodness since my hard drive crashed on my computer and I wouldn’t have been able to enter them in!
Hedgehog babies are due in early March and I have high hopes at least two of the girls are pregnant. Hopefully all 6 are pregnant as the weather is stabilizing and they are eating more and sleeping more. I am hoping to see them all start nesting in a couple of weeks when we do the final pre-baby cage cleaning.
For the week of February 10th -
The website is updated with all of our available babies! YAY! As hobby breeders we have limited space and a LARGE number of chinchillas kits available so we’ve decided to offer them at reduced prices to good homes! Go check out the list of available babies! Please let us know if you want weight information or pictures of any of them!
We also paired up several hedgehogs so we’re hoping for babies in early March! Our last pairings didn’t yield a single baby, the only thing I can think is the weather was so unpredictable they just didn’t know what to make of it. In all my years I’ve never bred 4 girls without getting a single baby. This time I’ve placed 6 girls in with males so we’ll cross our fingers!
This week also brought a huge amount of heartbreak for me as Choco, my oldest male hedgehog crossed the bridge. I try to not play favorites but we had a special bond and my heart is really broken. He lived a long, full, happy life and I know he’s happy across the bridge with unlimited mealies. He was always a very special boy and he was a real ladies man so there are lots of youngsters out there with a little bit of him in them. I hope they all bring as much love to their families lives as he did to ours!

For the week of February 3rd -
It’s been a week full of both blessings and heartbreak. A litter of triplets was born to our Ebony female and a fourth was caught in the birth canal. She was able to pass the 4th baby with a little help but the baby was not fully gestated. The other three did well for the first day despite being the tiniest babies we’ve ever had here but all three died by the 3rd day. 
Our violet carrier female (Elsie) also gave birth to twin girls (our 3rd and 4th girls of the year) the violet girl continues to do well and was a HUGE baby at 64 grams, her sister was half her size and didn’t make it through the first night.
Times like these are very difficult and unfortunately are much too common in the life of a breeder.

No baby news this week! Both chinchillas continue to grow well and the tenrecs remain in torpor.
For the week of January 20th –
We were blessed with our 2nd female Chinchilla kit of the year, she’ll be available to go to her new home in 8 weeks! She’s a pink white with really interesting markings. Her mom had the 2nd kit of 2007 as well, also a pink white female we kept here and named Cirrus, she’ll be going in to breeding any day and is really, really, beautiful so I have high hopes for this kit as well!
For the week of January 13th –
Due to a death in the family I’ve not been able to pair the hedgehogs I wanted to. I will get to it as soon as possible!
We were blessed with a new chinchilla baby this week! Our fist of the New Year! Her mama is one of my favorite chinchillas and was one of my first, in all the years she’s been here she’s never blessed us with a baby. She had a brown velvet baby girl the day of my grandpa’s funeral. I couldn’t be happier to share this news and the fact this was our first baby of the year just makes it all the better!! Her mama is a phenomenal girl so I have high hopes for this baby. I don’t know yet if she’ll be available but if so I’ll be sure to let you know!
