No baby news this week! Both chinchillas continue to grow well and the tenrecs remain in torpor.

For the week of January 20th –
We were blessed with our 2nd female Chinchilla kit of the year, she’ll be available to go to her new home in 8 weeks! She’s a pink white with really interesting markings. Her mom had the 2nd kit of 2007 as well, also a pink white female we kept here and named Cirrus, she’ll be going in to breeding any day and is really, really, beautiful so I have high hopes for this kit as well!

For the week of January 13th –
Due to a death in the family I’ve not been able to pair the hedgehogs I wanted to. I will get to it as soon as possible!
We were blessed with a new chinchilla baby this week! Our fist of the New Year! Her mama is one of my favorite chinchillas and was one of my first, in all the years she’s been here she’s never blessed us with a baby. She had a brown velvet baby girl the day of my grandpa’s funeral. I couldn’t be happier to share this news and the fact this was our first baby of the year just makes it all the better!! Her mama is a phenomenal girl so I have high hopes for this baby. I don’t know yet if she’ll be available but if so I’ll be sure to let you know!

For the week of January 1st -
We will soon be able to breed our tenrecs! YAY!! We are now lucky enough to have two pairs, as soon as they are all out of torpor we’ll be matching them up. Currently they are all living separately.
No baby news to report this week, we’re anxiously awaiting our first arrivals of 2008!
